September 13, 2009: Confirmation and First Holy Communion celebrations
Our Confirmation and First Holy Communion celebrations would not be possible without the generosity and support of so many people behind the scenes. I would like to especially thank Bishop John Gerry, Jenny Donnelly, Sandra Di Franceso and the Office Staff, the teachers, musicians, local groups, sacristans, children’s church volunteers and all those who quietly prepared our churches for this weekend. As a Jubilee Family we are truly blessed. Thank-you once again. This preparation will continue over the next 5 weeks culminating in the celebration of Confirmation at St Brigid’s on Friday night, 11t h September and Holy Communion celebrated at all our Masses over the weekend of 12t h/13t h September. As part of their preparation there will be special “Children’s church” at each of the Masses for the young candidates which will be a time of weekly review and reflection. If you would like any more information or would like to be involved in any aspect of the programme please contact our Sacramental Programme coordinator, Mrs Jenny Donnelly at jend@donnellys.net.au. July 11/12 2009: Jubilee Men’s RETREAT – A ReflectionThirty or so men including some in their early 20s, mainly from the Jubilee Parish and from a few neighbouring Parishes, assembled at the Lavalla Centre last weekend (11th-12th of July) for a Parish-based Men’s Retreat conducted by the menALIVE Team associated with the Emmanuel Covenant in Brisbane. The Saturday started early in the morning and finished late in the evening; Sunday started likewise and finished mid-afternoon with the Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Brian Finnegan. The aim of the Retreat was to allow the participants, in an ideal retreat environment, to reflect upon their lives within their own family and within the Church, and then to look ahead to the future with greater purpose and direction. By a series of very personal talks, all centred around the theme of ‘Father’, each talk followed up by discussion, the men were motivated to reflect upon their lives, and to make appropriate practical resolutions. There were excellent book resources on sale for the men for their further reflection. No one present would deny the value of such a retreat experience, and all would testify to it strongly and recommend it to others. March 23/24 2009: Jubilee Sacramental Programme
