Paul William Kelly was born in Townsville, Queensland, in June 1968 and started school in Canberra, at Saint Matthew’s in Paige, and Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, Charnwood, before moving back to Queensland in 1975. Paul then attended the Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School at Enoggera, and then Marcellin College, Enoggera before completing his secondary schooling at Mount Maria College, Mitchelton in 1985.

Paul worked in a hardware store, part-time, (1984-1991), whilst at school and continued with this during his five years full-time study at the University of Queensland. Originally the hardware store was named “Q.U.F Hardware,” as it was owned by the well known milk company, (Queensland United Food), and then the store was bought out by Burns Philp and Company to become BBC Hardware Enoggera (on the corner of Pickering and Wardell Streets Enoggera, next-door to the Enoggera Railway station).

Paul studied at the University of Queensland and graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (1988) and a Law Degree (Hons) (1991). After commencing his preparation for priesthood in 1991, he completed his Parish training year (Internship Year) at Beenleigh in 1995 and his first parish appointment was Maroochydore from 1997-2000.

Paul worked at Ipswich Catholic Parish from January 2001 until he was appointed the new parish priest of Murgon Parish in February 2003. In February 2005, Paul was appointed Parish Priest of Maryborough. He is looking forward to many years of service here.

Paul’s interests include writing, musical composition and video and sound engineering. When only fourteen Paul began producing radio plays and music and has produced hundreds of programmes as a hobby.
